In addition to our monthly meetings, here are a few other events to know about:
Student Essay Contest - 4th and 7th graders - SUBMISSIONS NOW DUE FEBRUARY 24, 2021
Note: We understand that students may be working on essays for the contest as school projects. Due to school closures in the North Texas area, the deadline for the student essay contest has been extended to February 24th.
The Collin McKinney Chapter is sponsoring a student essay contest, with the winning authors to receive $50 and have their essay advance to the state level contest and a chance at winning $500. Email [email protected] or use the "Contact Us" link for more information.
To submit essays: Essays may be hand-written or typed and emailed to [email protected]. One entry per email. Please put "Story Contest" and the grade in the subject line, and in the body of the email, please include:

Do you know an outstanding Texas History teacher in 4th or 7th grade? The Collin McKinney Chapter would love to sponsor an area teacher in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas annual contest, with the winning teachers in the state to receive $750. Library Meetings for Genealogy Research - These meetings have been open to the public on certain Saturday mornings at the Plano Public Library, Haggard Branch. Temporarily halted due to COVID concerns.
